Ice Cold Bäska Snaps
Pilsner Beer (optional)

In Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia, the most common way that people drink bitter schnapps like Bäska Snaps is to serve it ice cold in a small half-ounce “snaps” glass. It’s served as an aperitif, a digestif and during long meals, especially during caviar and smoked fish courses. It’s also served throughout the holiday seasons as a celebratory tipple throughout the day!

During traditional Swedish crayfish boils, it’s also tradition to use bitter schnapps for toasts, washed down with an ice cold pilsner beer.

A Perfect way to start an evening…

2 oz Bäska Snaps
1/2 oz. Martini Gran Lusso
1/2 oz. Martini Rosso
3 drops Bittermens Xocolatl Mole Bitters

Stir in an ice filled mixing glass and strain into a coupe.

Bittered Bourbon Flip

1/2 oz. Coffee Syrup (directions here)
1 1/2 oz. Bonded Bourbon
1/2 oz. Zucca Amaro
1/2 oz. Bäska Snaps
1 whole egg
Salt, to taste
Dash of nutmeg, for garnish
Chocolate bitters, for garnish

Combine the coffee syrup with all of the other ingredients in a shaker, and shake well. Add ice, shake again and strain into a white wine glass.
 Sprinkle nutmeg over the top, and add 3 drops of chocolate bitters.

1 oz. Plantation 5 Yr. Old Rum
1 oz. Dry Curaçao
1/2 oz. Bäska Snaps
1 Squeeze Lemon
Miller High Life

Shake all items except for the beer with ice until cold. Strain into ice filled collins glass. Top with Miller High Life.

Boss Colada

1/2 oz. Angostura 7 Year Old Rum
1 oz. Bäska Snaps
1 1/2 oz. Pineapple juice
1/2 oz. Lime juice
1/2 oz. Orgeat
20 drops Peychaud’s Bitters

In an ice filled shaker, add all of the ingredients aside from the bitters and shake 20 times. Fine strain into a pebble ice filled footed pilsner glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.

1 oz. Del Maguey Mezcal Vida
1/2 oz. Grapefruit Juice
1/2 oz. Key Lime Juice
1/2 oz. Cinnamon Syrup
12 drops Bittermens ‘Elemakule Tiki Bitters

Shake with ice and then strain into an ice filled Tiki mug!

1 1/2 oz. Pineapple juice
1 oz lime juice
2 dashes of Bittermens ‘Elemakule Tiki Bitters

Add all ingredients into a crushed ice filled hurricane glass. Swizzle. Top with more ice. Garnish with a lime circle caramelized with demerara sugar.

1/2 oz Bäska Snaps
1/2 oz Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth
1/2 oz Dolin Rouge Vermouth
Garnish: Orange zest
Glass: Rocks or coupe

Fill a mixing glass two-thirds of the way with ice. Add all the ingredients and stir for 20 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass containing one large ice cube or a coupe glass. Garnish with orange zest.

1/4 oz Bittermens New Orleans Coffee Liqueur
1/4 oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur

Stir and strain into a shot glass. Drink and then contemplate drinking another.

バスカスナップス 45ml
プリモス・ジン 30ml
コンビエ・パンプルムースロゼ 15ml
シャルトリューズ・ブェール(緑)7.5ml
網焼きシシトウ 1個
フレッシュミントの葉 8枚

グラスにシャルトリューズを7.5mlと網焼きしたシシトウを加える。マドラーでシシトウが破けるまで潰す。残りの材料と氷を加え、よくシェークします。茶こしに通して、冷やしたカクテルグラスへ注ぎます。カクテルの付け合わせにシシトウ1個とミントの葉1枚で出来上がりです。

1 oz. Plymouth Gin
1/2 oz. Combier Pamplemousse Rose
1/4 oz. Green Chartreuse
One blistered shishito pepper
Eight mint leaves

Muddle shishito with the Green Chartreuse. Add mint and the remaining ingredients. Shake well and double strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a blistered shishito pepper and fresh mint leaf.

In a champagne flute soak one sugar cube with orange blossom water. Add 1 oz Bäska Snaps. Top with Champagne and garnish with a long orange twist.

Manhattan Variants

On a warm April night, a group of Bäska Snaps enthusiasts descended upon Bellocq for some cocktails. William had a moment of inspiration and made a Manhattan, switching Bäska Snaps in for the Rye and it was just wonderful. We also tried it in a Greenpoint, a well known Manhattan variant created by Michael McIlroy of Attaboy in NYC.

Manhattan Variation
2 oz. Bäska Snaps
1 oz. Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth

Stir and strain into a coupe or straight sided cocktail glass. Lemon Twist.

Greenpoint Variation
2 oz. Bäska Snaps
1/2 oz. Punt e Mes
1/2 oz. Yellow Chartreuse
1 dash Angostura bitters
1 dash orange bitters
